A breakdown of the video production process

As a rule, most companies do not have their own production, so the creation of a video is entrusted to professional studios specialized in this field. The production of a commercial, depending on the scope of the project, can take from one week to several months. The process is divided into three stages: preparation, filming and post-production. In this article, we have described the main stages of video production. Let’s consider them together.

1)Pre-production stages

The first step in the San Francisco video production the process is the preparation. At this stage, the producer identifies the particularities of the product, defines a target audience, the resources available and proposes a general idea. For the end result to be successful, the client and the contractor must agree on the concept. Then the most interesting part begins.

2)Write a screenplay

After completing the previous step, it’s a good time to start writing a script. You already have a clear understanding of what the video will be about and how exactly it will introduce/advertise a product or service. Based on this information, some specialists are involved. If you need creative and memorable ideas with humor, this is a task. And if strict and constructive concepts with specific data are needed, you should involve scriptwriters and writers who specialize in business presentations.

3)Storyboard Drawing

It is important to understand that the term “storyboard” is interpreted in different ways. For example, in simple videos, the notion of “storyboard” is equivalent to the notion of “illustration”. By the word “storyboard” we mean a set of illustrations developed on the basis of a script agreed by the client, drawn in layers and ready for animation. In more complex, multi-part projects, the term “storyboard” has a different meaning – when a project animator, under the guidance of an art director, creates thumbnail sketches for each scene.

4)Dubbing

The video production process is linear, ie we only move on to a new stage after we have agreed on the current one. But some stages can take place simultaneously with the main work of the project, and dubbing is one of them. Typically, the dubbing is recorded immediately after the script has been accepted by the client.

5)Shooting

After completing all the pre-production tasks, it’s time to shoot the video. If everything is well planned, no problems will appear in the process. Once filming is complete, all material is sent to post-production.

6)Post production

Graphics, animations, and skillfully written text can help you visualize your ideas and highlight important points. Good music is the last element that can take your video to a new level. Checking the completed video by the supervisor and editor for the presence of grammatical and technical errors is the final step. The client receives a video which can be used for promotion.
