A post-production partnership, a boost for the northern film industry

The three-company arrangement allows more work from script to final product to stay in the region

Based in Sudbury Northern Ontario Film Studios (NOFS) announced three new partnerships to boost the film industry in Northern Ontario, bringing post-production services to Sudbury and North Bay and allowing more work to stay local.

The three companies involved in the partnership – Picture Shop, which is the photo division of Streamland Media, Parachute North Post Production and WMB post – will be housed at NOFS facilities across the North.

Established in Sudbury in 2012, NOFS is Northern Ontario’s first and only motion picture studio that offers studio space, production offices, handle/electric rentals, as well as prop, decors and featured carts.

Since its inception, NOFS has served over 100 film and television productions in the North.

“I have been involved in over 70 film and television projects in my career and having post-production talent of this caliber available locally here in the North is great,” said David Anselmo, strategic business development for NOFS, in A press release.

“Being able to offer them the flexibility of multiple facilities in the region to work from will give these service companies a competitive advantage over others and allow their professional services to expand throughout the region.”

Picture Shop, the picture division of Streamland Media, is an award-winning international post-production house providing color, editorial, daily, unscripted sound, mastering and restoration services to the entertainment industry.

Picture Shop has an eight-year partnership with NOFS, and is currently based out of their Sudbury studio, and will expand to the NOFS studio in North Bay.

Parachute North Post-Production is an award-winning sound post-production team specializing in the artistic editorial process of creating soundscapes, with a reputation for attention to detail and customer service, cultivated over the past 25 years.

WMB Post Production Services North was created for the express purpose of expanding the level of post production services in Northern Ontario. They are involved in budgeting, scheduling, editorial team selection, visual effects planning and delivery and they may also utilize AVID editing systems and training, if required.

NOFS continues to grow in its offerings with the opening of the second office and stage in North Bay in 2015, and with their permanent turn-of-the-century city, built on the outskirts of North Bay at a cost of nearly $2 million. .

In total, NOFS offers 70,000 square feet and 60 acres of studio space available to the film and television industry in Northern Ontario.
