The Nigerian government is in the process of concluding its plan to begin assembly and mass production of helicopters for use and export.
The Nigerian National Agency for Scientific and Technical Infrastructure (NASENI), visiting President Muhammadu Buhari this weekend, has assured that the country is ready to start local assembly of helicopters.
The team was led by Executive Vice President of Mohammed Sani Haruna NASENI.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Haruna noted that a lot of progress has been made and all the necessary parts and components have been delivered from Belgium and training has started in earnest for pilots, engineers and technicians.
He explained that he was at the Villa to brief the President on the activities of the agency and to present his financial report as requested by the President.

Buhari had approved in 2021 that 1% of the Federation’s allocation be given to NASENI to fund the Agency’s activities and technical innovations.
The President also ordered NASENI to collaborate with Dynali Company, a Belgian helicopter manufacturing company, for the local production of helicopters,
NASENI, following the President’s directive, tweeted: “Made in Nigeria helicopter underway as @fmaviationng begins evaluation process.
“Mr. President’s dream of launching a Nigeria-made helicopter before the end of his term is gradually being realized as the project has entered the evaluation phase by the aviation authorities.”
