Star Wars: Andor Season 2 was reportedly given a production window and will be filmed in a location with strong ties to the franchise’s past.
Andor Season 1 is yet to be released, but a new report reveals that Lucasfilm is gearing up to begin filming Season 2 of the upcoming star wars show by the end of 2022.
According to do star warsthe second season of Andor will begin filming in November 2022 at Elstree Studios, where the original star wars trilogy was filmed. It is the first time that a star wars project has been filmed at Elstree since the 1980s. Production of the first season of Andor took place at Pinewood Studios.
Season 2 of Andor would shoot for 18 months at Elstree, which is considered extremely long for a production of this size. Lucasfilm or Disney have yet to confirm the length of production or if another star wars project will be filmed at the same time as Andor at Elstree. Star Wars: The Acolytean upcoming Disney+ series set in the late High Republic era, will begin filming at Pinewood Studios in London in October 2022.
Andor will explore the formative years of rebel spy Cassian Andor five years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which depicts the character’s death. Diego Luna is reprising his role from the 2016 film in the upcoming Disney+ series. Also back from A thug are Forest Whitaker and Genevieve O’Reilly as Saw Gerrera and Mon Mothma, respectively. Alan Tudyk was originally slated to join them, returning as the voice of the droid K-2SO, but revealed in January 2021 that the character was no longer in Season 1. The actor mentioned that K-2SO may eventually appear in the series “if [Andor] stay on the air, [and] the stories keep being told.”
Andor is set to premiere in 2022 with previous reports pointing to an August release on Disney+. The first trailer is set to debut during Star Wars Celebration 2022 on May 26. Adria Arjona, who plays an undisclosed character on the show, will be at the event. In addition to Arjona, Andor will star Stellan Skarsgård, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Robert Emms and David Hayman. No details about the actors who star have been revealed.
2022 marks a big year for star wars on the Disney streaming service. Boba Fett’s Book ended its inaugural season in February while Obi Wan Kenobi premieres in May. Season 3 of The Mandalorian will also arrive before the end of 2022.
Season 1 of Andor does not yet have a release date.
