Cemvita Unveils New Golden Hydrogen Fuel Program to Pilot New Production Process

The H2 coalition will launch a new surface biofabrication process.

A new H2 fuel coalition called the Gold Hydrogen program was recently launched, bringing together organizations working to support the production of this clean fuel at scale.

The project will also launch a new microbial gold hydrogen process, which was announced at the launch.

This joint industrial partnership aims to develop, test and commercialize gold-bearing hydrogen. Among the members of the coalition is Cemvita Factory, an innovator of low-carbon microbial solutions for the extraction, renewal and production of energy and mining resources. Also part of the EXP Coalition are Chart Industries Incl and The Center for Houston’s Future.

This designation of H2 is natural and is found deep within the Earth. The most common way to source this zero-emission fuel is usually to produce it through a variety of potential methods. This way, however, the resource is already there to be mined. The reason it hasn’t been obtained this way until now is that it was far too expensive to be commercially viable.

The coalition’s new underground biofabrication techniques could open up the golden hydrogen opportunity.

Cemvita is spearheading this new project, which offers the potential for clean and efficient zero-emission fuel extraction. If correct, it also offers the possibility of bringing thousands of depleted and abandoned oil and gas reservoirs to be remediated and revitalized across the country.

the the extraction technique brings together existing infrastructure with new microbiology technology. Combined, they can rapidly scale clean energy solutions while creating new revenue streams for heavy industry companies.

“Gold Hydrogen presents a unique opportunity for innovative companies to serve and thrive in the transition to a clean economy. Equipped with assets and infrastructure, a skilled workforce and a global footprint, these companies can be leaders at a time when ambitious climate action dramatically increases demand for energy, resources and of minerals,” said Moji Karimi, CEO of Cemvita Factory. “But that won’t be possible without scalable innovations to rapidly reduce the carbon footprint of operations.”

“Microbiology shows incredible potential to unlock the promise of golden hydrogen in a clean and efficient manner,” added Cemvita’s Petroleum Microbiology Manager, Zach Broussard, Program Manager. “Through this program, we look forward to collaborating with companies that value innovation and are committed to leading the clean energy transition.”
