Technology uses non-fluorinated curing aid to produce Viton APA grades
Wilmington, Delaware – Chemours recently announced the development of process technology to produce “advanced polymer architecture” (APA) grades of Viton fluoroelastomers.
The process eliminates the use of fluorinated curing aids, improving the sustainability of the fluoroelastomer production process, Chemours said.
Viton APA-grade fluoroelastomers, he noted, enable products for applications including transportation, electronics, industrial manufacturing, and oil and gas.
“Chemours invests in R&D that drives sustainability across our portfolio and media,” said Denise Dignam, president of advanced performance materials at Chemours.
APA fluoroelastomers “enable better, safer, more reliable and more durable solutions while meeting customer and market needs,” she commented.
New Viton APA grade fluoroelastomers have performance equivalent to our other fluoroelastomer products, according to Chemours.
Chemours said it has entered the final phase of rollout, with customer testing and validation to make APA products widely available.
