Citizen TV Adopts FOR-A 4K Production System | 4K/UltraHD | News

Powering a new studio for Ramogi TV, a Dholuo-language station in the country, Citizen TV, one of Kenya’s largest free-to-air television networks, chose a 4K-capable production system from FOR-A.
Citizen TV received both the prestigious KUZA Award from the Communications Authority and the Culture Africa Style Award in 2021 and has grown rapidly since its relaunch in 2006. It chose to build a new facility in Nairobi but had to face challenges of budget and access to a reliable supply of products.

“We have been looking for technologies and partners that allow us to reach millions of viewers across Kenya,” said Citizen TV Chief Engineer Moses Waweru. “We chose a 4K-capable system from FOR-A using an HVS-490 production switcher at the production core and an MFR-3232 multi-format router, along with ClassX Mini on-air graphics.” Despite the compact nature of the products, the solution offers significant technical and operational advantages, which have resulted in a very short installation and commissioning time.

Citizen TV’s investment was part of a major deal with UAE-based systems integrator StreamPort Media, which included studio camera and lighting systems. FOR-A, StreamPort Media and Citizen TV worked to meet project deadlines to get the studio on the air in record time, with first productions on November 29, 2021. The studio is now home to the popular talk show Mbak Ndalo and Thapki.

“Over the past six months, we have taken a consultative approach to identifying Citizen TV’s needs,” said Muhammad Mudassir of StreamPort Media. lighting and transmission”.

“Through detailed discussions with the StreamPort Media and Citizen TV teams, we understood the customer’s priorities and objectives, and in particular their desire to move to 4K Ultra HD,” remarked Khalid Sweidan, Director FOR-A’s senior sales representative in the Middle East. “This key reference clearly demonstrates our commitment to developing the African market with targeted partners like StreamPort Media, who have successfully completed several installations in Africa over the past two years.
