Honda has unveiled the design of its first all-electric SUV, designed in partnership with General Motors (GM). Honda’s 2024 model will be a midsize SUV based on GM’s Ultium batteries. The Honda Prologue is now ready for mass production. Honda has unveiled the complete exterior and interior design which it calls “Neo-Rugged” because it’s supposed to look both technologically ahead and ready for rough roads.
Given that this is a partnership with GM, it will more than likely launch in the US left-hand drive market in 2024 first. Honda says this top model finished in the North Shore Pearl color will be exclusive to the Prologue. The Prologue features things like a panoramic sunroof, 21-inch wheels and a new full-letter “Honda” badge for the rear. The interior looks familiar to other Hondas, as it features a standalone 11.3-inch touchscreen display running Honda’s infotainment software, an array of knobs and buttons, and basic Honda simplicity.
Honda is now preparing a unique transition program for those interested in the Prologue. Since it won’t go on sale until 2024, Honda will offer two-year leases on the new Honda CR-V hybrid (instead of the usual 3 years) which will encourage consumers to choose the Prologue as soon as it is launched. This rental program is only available in ZEV states, however, and it does not appear to guarantee prologue attribution if one continues the program. In the spec area, Honda provides some key metrics, like a 121.8-inch wheelbase. That wheelbase is also 8 inches longer than the new 2023 Honda CR-V, and it’s also 5 inches wider than the CR-V.
Honda celebrates 25 years since the launch of the Honda City in the Indian market. The popular midsize sedan went on sale in 1998. Earlier in 2022, Honda launched the City Hybrid in India. It uses a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with two electric motors, delivering a combined output of 124 BHP and 253 Nm. Can we expect Honda CR-V or Prologue to come to the Indian market? by 2024 since it goes into mass production?
