“K” Line Wind Service, Ltd., a joint venture between Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” LINE) and Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.(*1), together with Japan Marine United Corporation, Nihon Shipyard Co ., Ltd. and Toa Corporation are pleased to announce that the project “Mass Production and Cost Reduction of Floating Offshore Wind Facility” has been officially adopted as the Green Innovation Fund for “Cost Reduction of Floating Offshore Wind Power Projects”. offshore wind power generation”
In order to achieve the Japanese government’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, the development of renewable energy is essential. Offshore wind power generation will play an important role in this target with its potential as a major energy source and the economic growth brought by the development of the supply chain in Japan. With limited shallow waters for the installation of offshore wind turbines around Japan, there is a strong expectation of floating offshore wind turbines that can be developed despite the depth of the ocean. To develop floating offshore wind, mass production and cost reduction technology must be achieved
Having above understanding, the consortium aims to develop a method of mass production and cost reduction of the floating foundation, mooring/anchoring system, offshore installation in all aspects of the EPCI (engineering, procurement, construction and installation).
