BULAWAYO-based KeYona TV, through its Programming and Production Department, announced that it has finalized the program guide for its opening season.

This marks the start of content production in April in the city of Bulawayo, surrounding areas and various locations across the country.

Cont Mhlanga, head of content acquisition, production and programming at KeYona TV, said its founding principle “let’s create together” spotlighted mass branded shows in their programming to reflect the roots multicultural or multilingual Zimbabweans.

“The public should be on the lookout for calls for auditions that will be announced on various social media platforms. Through research and innovation, KeYona Television is committed to solidifying the city of Bulawayo as the artistic and cultural capital of Zimbabwe, creating employment opportunities, attracting the creative class and facilitating the growth of a sustainable creative industry,” said Mhlanga.

He said the above can only be done by tapping into the palate and expectations of Zimbabwean viewers.

“Viewers have been constantly on the lookout for innovative and quality African content, which has led a majority of Zimbabwean households to consume regional and international productions.

“We are determined to change the narrative and also expose audiences to raw and hidden talent previously unseen on local television,” he said.

Mhlanga said there is a need to come together to build an industry that will reflect the diversity, innovations, products and creativity of local people. – @mthabisi_mthire
