Linde’s hydrogen plants in Batangas go into production

Linde Philippines on Friday announced the commissioning of its nitrogen and hydrogen production plants at the JG Summit Olefins Corp manufacturing complex. in Batangas City.

The plants will supply the industrial gas requirements for the expansion of JGSOC’s naphtha cracker plant. Linde has invested over $10 million in the new facilities.

“The technology and solutions that Linde can offer, our experienced team and our local infrastructure allow us to support some of the largest projects in the country,” said Linde Philippines President Raymond Santayana.

The project includes the installation of an Ecogan nitrogen generator, the latest addition to Linde’s range of compact on-site nitrogen plants, featuring an innovative, energy efficient design.

Linde also installed a pressure swing adsorption plant to recover and purify by-product hydrogen from the naphtha cracker.

Nitrogen will be supplied throughout the naphtha cracker complex, and nitrogen and hydrogen will be supplied to JG Summit’s polyethylene and polypropylene plants.

JGSOC is the only integrated polyethylene and polypropylene resin manufacturer in the Philippines. The naphtha cracker, designed to mainly produce polymer-grade ethylene and polymer-grade propylene, provides raw material for downstream PE and PP polymerization plants, which in turn provide a stable supply of PE resin and PP for the local plastics industry.

Linde is a world leader in industrial gases and engineering. Linde operates an extensive national network of gas production plants, distribution facilities and sales centers, supplying the petrochemical, semiconductor, manufacturing, manufacturing, food and healthcare in the Philippines.

Linde has been supplying industrial gases to the JG Summit petrochemical complex for more than 20 years, and the commissioning of the new facility marks the start of the next phase of the partnership.

JGSOC President and CEO Patrick Go said they partnered with Linde for the expansion project because of their innovative process solutions and consistent track record of providing high quality conforming to global standards.

“We are pleased to have worked with them over the years, and we look forward to extending this successful partnership,” Go said.
