NGen Supercluster supports the development and deployment of a new additive manufacturing production system Mosaic Manufacturing’s Array platform enables large-scale additive manufacturing

HAMILTON, Ontario, March 31, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen), the industry-led organization leading Canada’s advanced manufacturing supercluster, announced $3.5 million in co-funding dollars for a collaborative project to bring additive manufacturing technologies from prototyping to the mass manufacturing market.

With its partners Objex Unlimited, ReDeTec Inc. and Athletic Knit, Mosaic Manufacturing has developed a new industrial additive manufacturing solution called Deploy. The new platform will be factory-ready, with an automated manufacturing cell comprised of independent multi-material 3D printers, a fully automated robotic operator, centralized ERP control software, and an array of engineering-grade production materials. .

“The growth of small, innovative companies like Mosaic is essential to building advanced manufacturing capabilities in Canada,” said Jayson Myers, CEO of NGen. “Array is a game-changing platform with the potential to revolutionize manufacturing through mass customization. He will play an important role in shaping the future of the industry and the solutions manufacturers bring to customers around the world. »

“Canada’s Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster has had incredible success in fostering collaborative partnerships between industry partners and small and medium enterprises to bring cutting-edge advanced manufacturing technologies to market faster,” declared the Honorable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry. “Array has the potential to provide Canadian companies with tangible solutions and competitive advantages, while encouraging them to manufacture products here in Canada.

“The Array product line represents an incredible leap forward in advanced manufacturing, making large-scale additive manufacturing possible for the first time.” Mitch Debora, CEO and Co-Founder of Mosaic Manufacturing, said, “None of this would have been possible without the support of NGen and the collaboration of consortium partners.

The deployment of Deploy has the potential to change the nature of Canada’s manufacturing landscape by catalyzing the adoption of 3D printing as a manufacturing tool. As a domestic production tool, Deploy will have an impact on reducing the need to import finished polymer products from overseas and will allow these products to be manufactured in Canada.

This collaboration represents the second NGen project undertaken by Mosaic, following their contract in 2020 to mass-produce 3D-printed medical-grade face shields for frontline workers at the start of the pandemic.
