NIO, headquartered in Shanghai, is currently carrying out final tests of its second NIO ET5 sedan in China, as shown in a video shared on Sunday. The electric vehicle maker will start mass-producing the model at its second plant located at NeoPark in Hefei, Anhui province.
The model has an estimated range of 1,000 km and will arrive in Norway, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands in spring 2023.
The ET5 goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds with a braking distance of 33.9 meters. The model comes with nine exterior color options and offers eight drive modes: Sport, Sport+, Comfort, Eco, Snow, Sand, Wet and Custom, an exclusive drive mode.
NIO Aquila Super Sensing provides 360º visual perception through 33 high-performance sensing units, including a high-resolution ultra-long-range LiDAR, seven 8 MP high-resolution cameras and also four 3 MP light-sensitive surround-view cameras .
In addition, it also includes an ADMS (Advanced Driver Monitoring System), five millimeter wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, GPS, IMU and V2X, according to NIO.

The electric drive system includes a 150 kW induction motor in the front and a 210 kW permanent magnet motor in the rear, making high performance, better safety and redundancy a reality , explains NIO.
The company adds that the model seamlessly distributes power for different driving scenarios and the permanent magnet motor uses the SiC power module to reduce both power consumption and noise.

NIO plans to enter the US market in 2025 and deploy the first battery swap station in the country as early as November 2022, two people familiar with the matter told EV.
After entering Europe through Norway in September 2021, the company is set to arrive in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands. For 2023, as EV reported on July 13, NIO plans to enter 9 European markets, including Austria, Belgium, France, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal and the Czech Republic.
Last Thursday, a video leaked on the internet showed more than a hundred NIO ET7 units at the port of Shanghai waiting to be shipped to Europe, amid the company’s expansion in the coming months.
The model was unveiled during NIO Day 2020, held in January 2021, and will arrive in Norway, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark before the end of the year.
Recently, NIO CFO Steven Feng confirmed that the EV maker would also enter Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark with the NIO ET7 sedan, which had only been confirmed for the German market, the second European country of the manufacturer of electric vehicles.
