Paramount + 'Star Trek: Picard' halts production process due to Covid-19 outbreak within team

Star Trek: Picard becomes another TV production affected by the recent Covid-19 outbreak. According to Deadline, the Paramount + series halted its production process after more than 50 cast and crew members tested positive for the virus. However, Deadline’s source suggests that Patrick Stewart (X Men), the main actor of the series, remains in good health for now.

Star Trek: Picard is the eighth Star trek series and debuted in 2020 as part of the Star trek Universe. The plot follows Star Trek: Nemesis and the 2009 film Star trek. In Picard, Data is dead and the planet Romulus is destroyed. Stewart plays retiree Jean-Luc Picard in the series. The first season of Picard took place from January 23 to March 26, 2020. It contains ten episodes. The first season received praise from audiences and critics alike, breaking audience records and winning a Primetime Emmy Award.

Season two of Star Trek: Picard has completed its production. The current production that is affected is for the third season, which premieres in 2023. The production team has over 450 people. Filming was interrupted on Monday but is expected to resume on Friday. The third season will follow the character of Stewart in the next chapter of his life. The third season was officially renewed in September 2021. Production for the third season began immediately after the end of filming for the second season in September.

The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. It is created by Akiva J. Goldsman (A beautiful spirit), Michel chabon (Incredible), Kirsten Beyer (Star Trek: Discovery), and Alex Kurtzman (People like us).

The dramatic increase in Covid-19 cases has swept through the entertainment industry in recent times. Production of NCIS must stop its progress because people tested positive on the set. NBC Chicago fire delayed filming due to growing health concerns. The Critics Choice Awards and the Grammys have postponed their ceremonies until further notice. The 2022 Palm Springs Awards gala has been canceled; recipients will now accept their rewards per delivery.

Season two of Star Trek: Picard will launch in February 2022. Like the first season, there will be ten episodes. It will be available to stream on Paramount +.
