HockeyTech has launched HockeyTV Community Network, an all-new platform for the youth and recreational market. The introduction of the HockeyTV community network marks the latest innovation for the HockeyTV platform, which broadcast more than 27,000 games last season for more than 30 leagues. Community network HockeyTV, which officially launched on October 1, will broadcast an additional 40,000 games each year, including youth leagues, minor hockey tournaments and recreational leagues on more than 50 ice surfaces.
“The HockeyTV Community Network is the realization of a long-standing vision at HockeyTech to make hockey at all levels of play accessible to fans, families and coaches,” said Hockey Tech CEO Stu Siegel“The content from our Community Network will be a great addition to the valuable content already airing on HockeyTV.”
HockeyTV Community Network venues will feature ViPr cameras powered by the Pixellot automated game broadcasting system, which tracks play in real time using artificial intelligence. ViPr cameras installed at each venue take a 180-degree panoramic view of the ice surface and then automatically track the game to simulate a cameraman. The broadcast also includes an automated overlay of score slugs so viewers can see the score and match time. Fans can access the HockeyTV mobile app to give them a full panoramic view of the ice and follow the game by tilting or zooming their mobile device.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Community Network to bring hockey production to more families and communities. Using AI technology, games are produced at a fraction of the cost, resulting in more games being produced,” says David ChapiroPresident of North America for Pixellot. “Sport has an inspiring impact on young athletes and by providing quality professional production, everyone involved will have the opportunity to share and capture these magical moments.”
