Transformation Church improves production of worship services with Ayrton Levante devices from SES Integration

United States – Transformation Church (TC), a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, mission-shaped community outside of Charlotte, Indian Land, SC, has added Ayrton Levante luminaires to its inventory of equipment used to produce services of worship.

TC has acquired Levante luminaires from SES Integration, a division of Special Event Services located in North Carolina. Levante luminaires are a significantly miniaturized version of Ayrton’s Bora wash lamp offering exceptional performance in an ultra-compact format. Levante’s optics produce an extremely uniform flat beam with no hot spots, ensuring perfect color mixing regardless of the color combination selected.

Jeff Cranfill, owner and lighting designer at Special Event Services, recommended the Levante to TC. “The whole range of Ayrton luminaires are very well built with high efficiency and great functionality,” he says. “I’ve had great results using the Levante wash fixtures in concert and on video. The framing shutters make it easy to create a video-friendly wash across the entire stage down to a single point. The settings for color temperature are very consistent between devices and the color temperature range is wide. This makes the device very usable in many environments.” All Ayrton luminaires have very good optics as well as uniform color mixing and a wide variety of gobos. These are some of the best LED source fixtures I have worked with, and I highly recommend them for touring and installations. “

Zach McCrorey, lighting designer and production manager at TC, admits that he arrived “slightly skeptical” at the Levante demo set up by SES Integration since he had never used an Ayrton product before. “But after discovering the product line, my skepticism was a thing of the past. I was blown away by the features housed in the Levante and left the demo deciding that the Levante was one of the best candidates among the fixtures we had researched” for the church, which offered its services online during the coronavirus pandemic.

In the end, McCrorey removed all incandescent fixtures to make room for seven Levante units. “What a world of difference these fixtures have made,” he says! “The Levantes have completely changed the game and the quality of our online experience has increased tenfold. Along with our latest broadcast camera upgrades, our key lighting infrastructure also needed to be improved. Now our team on stage is incredibly well lit in person, and that translates beautifully through the camera lens for those watching from home. Additionally, there are multiple broadcast locations in our auditorium – from the main stage to the broadcast reception area to our baptistery – and the use of the very smooth framing flaps made it possible to highlight any what area of ​​the auditorium at a glance.

McCrorey thinks the Levante would be an asset to any place of worship, regardless of size. “They would be impressed with the performance and functionality that the Levante effortlessly delivers,” he says. “The output is superb, the beam is incredibly flat, and there are absolutely no hot spots projected from the lens.

“Because our community is multi-ethnic, it’s important to be able to light various skin tones quickly and correctly,” he notes. “Levante’s color scheme blends very well and the colors displayed are crisp. The fixture is quiet and responds quickly. But what is truly breathtaking is its compactness! We use a one-person lift for all keystrokes and light fixture installation, so weight was a big factor in deciding which fixture to purchase. We were thrilled to learn that this awesome device weighed just under 50 pounds.
