Turkey’s first lithium-ion battery production plant has reached mass production stage

ASPİLSAN Energy, a subordinate of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, has reached the mass production stage at its lithium-ion battery production plant.

ASPİLSAN Energy, with the support of the Presidency Project, has transitioned to the mass production stage at Turkey’s first lithium-ion battery production plant with a closed area of ​​25,000 square meters in Kayseri.

THE FACILITY WILL PRODUCE 22 MILLION BATTERIES PER YEAR

The production of cylindrical lithium-ion batteries will be carried out in this plant for the first time in Europe. The new facility will produce approximately 220 million batteries per year with a capacity of 22 megawatt hours.

The batteries that will be produced here will make Turkey a competitive country in this market with its superior characteristics.

Nihat Aksüt, lithium-ion battery production project manager, said in a statement, “When you compare our battery with similar capacity batteries from famous brands, we find that it has the ability to operate under harsh conditions. lower temperatures and has a higher rate of discharge”. he said.

FIRST PHASE READY FOR MASS PRODUCTION

Domestic and domestic lithium-ion batteries will be used in a wide range of fields such as telecommunications, robotic systems, household appliances and energy storage systems, especially in the defense industry. Moreover, this production only covers the first phase of the new installation.

Work on the second phase of the lithium-ion battery production facility was also launched. The most important part of the second phase is the production of batteries and batteries for electric cars. When the second phase is completed, this facility will be able to produce batteries and batteries for Turkey’s domestic automobile.

Ferhat Özsoy, General Manager of ASPİLSAN Energy, who said that they will produce prismatic batteries at this stage, said:

“Here again, we will have produced batteries that will make energy storage systems, telecom batteries and batteries for electric vehicles. We will supply cells to manufacturers of electric vehicles. After that, we will transform these cells into batteries ourselves and sell them to manufacturers of electric vehicles.

Turkey’s first lithium-ion battery production plant will start mass production in May and be officially opened.
